Orland Park, IL (March 18, 2021) –
In collaboration with a pharmacy chain through the Federal Retail Pharmacy Partnership Program, the Village of Orland Park will provide the COVID 19 vaccine to Orland Park seniors and educators.  The site, located at the Orland Park Civic Center at 14750 S. Ravinia Ave in Orland Park, will offer the first dose of the vaccines to registered individuals on Thursday, April 1 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the second dose three weeks later.

Between 700 and 1,200 COVID 19 vaccine doses will be made available to Orland Park senior citizens and educators. Notification alerting the community to the opportunity is being shared via Code Red, the Village’s emergency phone messaging system, social media, e-newsletter via email and shared with local school districts.

“We are pleased to be able to offer this service to Orland Park’s seniors and educators,” said Mayor Keith Pekau. “We hear from our senior residents daily about the inability to get vaccines and have tried multiple channels to get vaccine doses to help our residents. We are grateful to be able to make this a reality for Orland Park seniors and educators.”

Those eligible are Village of Orland Park residents who are 65 years of age and older, those who are educators who reside in the Village of Orland Park, and educators who reside elsewhere but are employed in the Village of Orland Park.

To register for the COVID 19 vaccine, please call (708) 239-8880 beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, March 19.  The registration assistant will give you further instruction regarding the registration process. Registrants will be required to provide proof of eligibility and confirm their availability to receive the vaccine on April 1st.

Seniors and educators will be registered for one of the 700-1,200 available vaccines on a first-come, first-serve basis.

“We hope to continue to make available vaccines to those who want them,” explained Pekau. “Many are having difficulty finding an appointment to get vaccines and we intend to help in any way we can.”

The Village began offering assistance with the registration process once residents began experiencing long delays, busy signals or no response from the Cook County COVID 19 Community Vaccination Program. Village of Orland Park employees answered calls from area seniors and assisted with the online registration process with Cook County.

“Now we’ve taken it one step further and we are able to offer the vaccination here in Orland Park,” said Pekau. “Everyone who wants a vaccine should be able to receive one.  We are just doing our part as community leaders to assist in making this happen.”
