Subject Arrested in Connection with Aggravated Vehicular Hijacking
Orland Park, IL. (September 16, 2024) - On June 6, 2024, the Orland Park Police Department responded to a call of an aggravated vehicular hijacking at the Mercedes-Benz of Orland located at 8430 W. 159th St. The victim, a vehicle transporter, was preparing to load a black 2021 Mercedes-Benz onto a transport truck for delivery to an out-of-state dealership.
While in the process of loading the vehicle, the victim was approached by two individuals who brandished a firearm and demanded the keys to the car. The driver complied, and both suspects fled the scene with the stolen Mercedes-Benz as well as the vehicle they had arrived in. Through investigative efforts, Orland Park detectives were able to track the stolen vehicle to a parking lot in South Holland, where it was found unoccupied.
Further investigation revealed that a similar crime had taken place earlier that day in Chicago Heights, IL. Another related incident involving the same suspects occurred on June 7, 2024, in the Village of Countryside.
Working in collaboration with detectives from the Countryside Police Department, Orland Park detectives identified Marcus D. Turner as a suspect based on evidence gathered during the investigations.
On September 12, 2024, Orland Park and Countryside Detectives located Turner in Markham and placed him into custody. At the time of his arrest, Turner was in possession of two firearms and had a revoked FOID card. Turner was subsequently charged with Aggravated Vehicular Hijacking (Class X), two counts of Aggravated Unlawful Use of Weapon (Class 4), and Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle (Class 2).
Turner made his initial court appearance on September 13, 2024, before the Honorable Judge Fairman, who ordered home confinement from 5 p.m. to 4 a.m. until Turner’s next court date on October 10, 2024. Turner was also detained for a probation violation from a 2022 case.
