You are our hero. You are remembered.
Proudly serving Veterans since 1991.
The Village of Orland Park Veterans’ Commission was created and appointed by the late Mayor Fred Owens in 1991. One of the commission’s first tasks was the creation of a suitable veterans’ memorial for the Orland Park community.
In 1993, Mayor Dan McLaughlin continued the community’s quest of a memorial and appointed the project team of the Veterans’ Commission to oversee its creation. Former Village Trustee Richard Della Croce and his brother, Donald Kress, oversaw the development of Orland Park’s memorial.
Designed by world renowned sculptor Virginio Ferrari, Orland Park’s memorial – “Ara Pace’, Place of Peace” – was dedicated on November 11, 1995. Describing his intent, Ferrari said, “What I wish to express with this sculpture is the endless potential of creative forces continued within the simplicity of the circular form”.

HONOR AND REMEMBER A VETERAN
Each Memorial and Veterans Day, the village's Veterans Commission adds the names of veterans to the granite wall surrounding Orland Park's Veterans' Memorial, "Ara Pace ~ Place of Peace."
ADD A NAME TO THE WALL
ARA PACE’ – PLACE OF PEACE MEMORIAL
A “memorial pavilion, a cathedral, encompassing the circle of endless memory of those who have died for our country supported by conflict and sacrifice in the tension of the supporting elements of the base.”
