ORLAND PARK, IL (July 6, 2018) - There's a new hash tag in Orland Park --- #Explore64. The village's Recreation and Parks Departments are challenging residents to explore all 64 village park sites to compete for prizes.

"This is a fun scavenger hunt that families can enjoy while visiting Orland Park's many parks," said Trustee Dan Calandriello, chair of the village's Recreation and Parks Committee. "We take great pride in our parks and green spaces. We want people to see all that the village's park system offers and complete some tasks to compete for prizes."

Orland Park's Explore 64 Hunt will be open to the first 100 competitors July 9 through August 9. Participants must download the Scavify App on Google Play or the App Store. Once downloaded, create a free account and search for the hunt called "Explore 64."

The hunt includes three types of tasks, a photo challenge; a GPS check in; and a question and answer. This program is sponsored by the Law Office of Dan Calandriello.

"Orland Park's Explore 64 is a great way to get kids outside, to the parks and have some fun while there," said Director of Recreation Nancy Flores. "Families can visit the parks at their leisure --- before the contest ends --- and share what they're doing on social media using the hashtag #Explore64."

The first person to visit all 64 parks on or before August 9, 2018 wins the Top Explorer First Place Award --- a one month membership to the village's Sportsplex. The second place winner to visit all 64 parks on or before August 9, 2018 wins two free passes to the Centennial Park Aquatic Center.

Third place honors go to the top 10 winners who visit 50-63 parks to earn two free passes for the kayak and pedal boats at Lake Sedgewick. Rules and prize details can be found at

"We're looking forward to people visiting parks they don't normally see," said Director of Parks and Grounds Gary Couch. "Kids are going to be excited when they see the zip line at Veterans Park or the horse racing theme at Equestrian Park or the palm trees and pirate ship at Mission Hills."

There is no charge to participate and winners must be Village of Orland Park residents. Competitors must be 14 years old to participate and those under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult who must show two forms of identification to prove residency when claiming prizes.

Village parks are open every day from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m.

"Explore 64 is a neat way to blend technology with spending time outside in Orland Park's many parks," Calandriello added. "It's a great way for residents of all ages to see how great our parks are."

Couch added, "Doogan Park has a new, dedicated pickle ball court and that's where we have Frisbee golf. The aquatic center has a new look and Greystone Ridge is a new park site with a relaxing water view. Residents are going to learn a lot about all that the village's parks offer."

Participants must download the Scavify App and visit all 64 parks between July 9 and August 9, 2018. Photos taken within the village's boundaries and uploaded to the Scavify App under Orland Park's Explore 64 Hunt may be used by the village for promotional purposes.

Winners will be notified via email after August 9.
