The Village of Orland Park Office of Special Services will hold its Senior Spring Coffee for area seniors on Monday, May 4 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. A centralized source of information for seniors, the coffee will be held at the Orland Park Civic Center, 14750 South Ravinia Avenue, in Orland Park.

"The village's Senior Coffees are a great source of information for the area's many seniors," said Orland Park Mayor Dan McLaughlin. "Special Services brings in the experts to distribute information and offer presentations for the many seniors who attend," the mayor added.

Participants at this spring's event will include representatives from the Orland Fire Protection District discussing fire and life safety for seniors. The Orland Park Police Department will address phone scams and other scams that target seniors. PLOWS Council on Aging will present the services that they offer and will bring a representative to discuss heart health, offering cholesterol and blood pressure screenings. Patricia Hayden from the U.S. Census Bureau will give a brief presentation on the upcoming 2010 Census.

"Orland Park's senior population continues to grow, both with existing residents and with those who have chosen the village as the ideal place to retire," said Orland Park Village Clerk Dave Maher. "We take great pride in helping to make seniors aware of all that's available for them to be healthy and safe," he added.

Refreshments will be served. Admission is free. Questions may be directed to the Office of Special Services at 708/403-6188.
