Greg Summers Joins Village Staff July 15, 2019

ORLAND PARK, IL (June 21, 2019) – Orland Park has named Greg Summers assistant village manager effective July 15, 2019. Summers currently serves as director of development services for the Village of Barrington.

“Greg brings a great portfolio to Orland Park,” said Interim Village Manager Tom Dubelbeis. “He has worked in government for more than 15 years and has private sector experience. We’re looking forward to having him join the Orland Park team.”

Summers holds a Master of Urban Planning Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. He is a certified planner with the American Institute of Certified Planners.

”I welcome this opportunity to collaborate with the existing talented staff in Orland Park, working to retain and advance the village’s position as the premier destination of the south suburbs,” Summers said.

Summers has worked for the Village of Barrington for 11 years, having joined the staff as director of engineering and building in 2008. He previously oversaw land acquisition and entitlement for a private development firm for three years after having served as associate village planner for the Village of Buffalo Grove from 2001 to 2005. He has served as director of development services for Barrington for the past six years.

”Working for the Village of Barrington has provided countless opportunities to be exposed to a broad spectrum of municipal challenges and opportunities and I look forward to bringing that knowledge base to Orland Park,” said Summers.

“Barrington has always delivered a high-level of collaborative and personalized service and that experience has really refined my listening skills, always keeping me grounded to the residents and businesses of the community; I am committed to bringing that same approach along with me,” he added.

“Mr. Summers’ background parallels what we’re looking for in Orland Park,” Dubelbeis said. “His experience covers all facets of municipal government along with grant writing and overseeing award winning initiatives. His work has been recognized with over a dozen honors from multiple entities.”
