The Village of Orland Park Public Works Department is taking advantage of the break between snow events, working to clear intersections and cul-de-sacs.

“Over the next few days, we will have front loaders working around the village to push back large snow piles in cul-de-sacs, on elbows, courts and corners,” said Director of Infrastructure Maintenance John Ingram. “We’re preparing for the next snow event,” he said.

Additional snow is expected this coming weekend.

“We’ve already had calls from residents thanking Public Works for moving the piles before it snows again,” Ingram said.

Public Works reminds all parents and caregivers to not allow children to play in or near large snow mounds, especially those near the street.

“We know that kids want to tunnel through these large mounds but that is very dangerous with how easily the piles can collapse and trap someone inside,” Ingram said, adding “Please do not let your kids play on the mounds --- especially those closest to the street.”
