Sportsplex Closed on July 23rd for Sanitizing and Disinfection

Orland Park, IL (July 22, 2020) – The Village was notified today that a Sportsplex instructor has tested positive for COVID-19.

In response, the Village of Orland Park is implementing the following measures:

  • Following the guidelines set forth by the CDC, the employee who tested positive is self-quarantining. The last time the employee was in the Sportsplex building was July 11, 2020.

  • The Village has hired a professional cleaning company to sanitize and disinfect the Sportsplex.  Sportsplex will be closed on July 23rd for additional cleaning and sanitizing.

This instructor last engaged with patrons on July 7th, July 9th, July 10th and July 11th.  Appropriate social distancing was practiced in the facility.

Although the instructor who tested positive has not been in the building since July 11th, the Sportsplex is being closed for one day for additional sanitizing and disinfection out of an abundance of caution.

Since the CDC announcement of the pandemic and establishment of workplace safety guidelines in March 2020, the Village has provided employees in all departments with gloves, masks, and hand sanitizer. Additionally, the Village has implemented social distancing measures, daily temperature checks, and enhanced remote meetings.  Employees who feel ill or who display any symptoms of COVID-19 are directed to refrain from reporting to work.

After being closed to the public following the initial COVID-19 emergency declaration, the Sportsplex reopened on June 1, 2020.

The safety of residents, customers, and employees continues to be the foremost priority for the Village of Orland Park.
