Orland Park Welcomes Christmas Season with Holiday Festival

Outdoor Holiday Festivities Return to the Village Center


ORLAND PARK, IL (November 18, 2019)-The Village of Orland Park officially welcomes the holiday season with the annual Holiday Festival and Tree Lighting ceremony on Sunday, December 1 at the Orland Park Village Center, 14700 South Ravinia Avenue.


“Coming together as a community to welcome the holiday season is a long-

standing tradition in Orland Park,” said Mayor Keith Pekau. “I look forward to spending the festive occasion with residents again this year as we gather to celebrate the season.”


The holiday market opens at 4:00pm where guests can purchase ready-to-eat foods, crafts and holiday items including the collectible Orland Park Holiday Festival mug with hot chocolate priced at $5 for regular and $6 for the spiked version.


Full festivities begin at 4:30pm with a lighted procession to the official holiday tree. Guests can purchase a lighted star for $5 each or three stars for $10 and join Santa in the light procession. Santa and attendees will make their way to the Village’s holiday tree for the official lighting which will take place at 5:00pm. The tree lighting includes a walk-through of the holiday displays. Be sure to check out the community trees that were “adopted” and decorated by local area groups, families, businesses and organizations.


The festival will feature live community entertainment including a 2019 finalist on The Voice and Palos Park native, Abby Kasch as well as Orland Park’s own Joe Matisse, lead singer of The Walk Ins band. Also performing as the Carl S. Sandburg High School Chamber Choir and Jerling Junior High School Chorale, the Orland Park Comedy IMPROV team, 2019 OP’s Got Talent Winner Mindy Sondag and local dance company, Ballet 5:8. Holiday stories will be read by staff of the Orland Park Public Library.


Performances will include a sneak peek of the Orland Park Theatre Troupe’s production of A Christmas Story.


New in 2019 is a coloring contest featuring Santa Claus! First, second and third places prizes will be awarded. Download the contest piece at http://bit.ly/OPColorContest. This year’s festival will introduce its first annual gingerbread house contest. All ages and groups are welcome to participate in the free event and registration is required at http://bit.ly/OPGingerbread. Gift card prizes will be awarded for first place, second, and third place.


The Lions Club will sell Christmas trees and wreaths as well as log snowmen and reindeer beginning Friday, November 29 from 10am 8pm and will continue until sold out. Daily hours are Monday through Friday from 4-8 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m.-8

p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
