Arts Commission to Host Holiday Concert

The Orland Park Arts Commission will host a holiday concert featuring Orland Park native and baritone Jonathan Beyer with soprano Sarah Gartshore and pianist Steven Hargreaves on Friday, December 3, at the Orland Park Cultural Arts Center, 14760 Park Lane.

Jonathan Beyer is a baritone who has performed with several opera companies and has given recitals in cities across the United States and worldwide, receiving numerous awards and winning many competitions. Beyer has degrees from the Curtis Institute of Music and the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University.

Selected as one of Symphony magazine's emerging artists, soprano Sara Gartshore has appeared in numerous operas, choral arts festivals and performed with symphony orchestras. A native of Canada, Ms. Gartshore is a graduate of Roosevelt University of Chicago College of Performing Arts.

Steven Hargreaves divides his professional work between conducting and solo performances. He possesses a particular love for the old and the new, specializing in baroque and contemporary music. Hargreaves has performed in cities across the United States. He has been the music director of Bethany United Church of Christ for ten years, where he has conducted sacred repertoire including multiple Bach cantatas and the Messiah.

"We are very excited to welcome these extraordinary artists to perform at the Village's Cultural Arts Center during the holiday season," said Trustee Kathy Fenton, chair of the Village's Community Outreach and Special Events Committee. "It's wonderful that the Arts Commission is again offering outstanding musical entertainment at a reasonable cost, close to home," she added.

The trio will perform a variety of music selections from theatre, opera, and Christmas, including Mozart, Gershwin, Handel, Tchaikovsky and more on December 3 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 pm. Tickets are $15 per person and may be purchased at the cashier's office at the Frederick T. Owens Village Hall, 14700 South Ravinia Avenue. The cashier's office is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 am until 5:00 pm. Only 200 tickets will be sold and a limited number of tickets may be available at the door.
