Liberty Family Fun Run/Walk Highlights July 3rd Events

The Orland Park Recreation Department will officially kick off its village's July 4th festivities on Friday, July 3 with Orland Park's annual Liberty Family Fun Run. The run will be held in Orland Park's beautiful 100+ acre Centennial Park, beginning at 7:00 p.m. with check in at 6:00 p.m. Centennial Park is located at 15600 West Avenue, four blocks west of LaGrange Road/U.S. Route 45.

"This is a wonderful summer event," said Orland Park Recreation Administrator Ray Piattoni. "Centennial Park provides the perfect setting for an early evening summer run," he added.

This two-mile fun run and one mile walk beings at the 153rd Street Metra Station. Participants will travel paths through Centennial Park. Awards will be given to the top three runners in each age division.

Children, ages four to six, are invited to participate in the "Run for Fun 50 Yard Dash for Kids" at 7:30 p.m. on July 3. Pre-registration is not required for the dash; however, participants should sign up at the Liberty Family Fun Run finish line. Prizes will be awarded to all participants.

Pre-registration is required for the Liberty Family Fun Run and no day of registrations are accepted. Participants may register at the Franklin Loebe Center, 14650 South Ravinia Avenue, or at the village's Sportsplex, 11351 West 159th Street. The cost is $12 for resident runners and $18 for non-resident runners. Resident walkers pay $7 and non-resident walkers pay $11.
