Update - Watermain Replacement Project

Update - Watermain Replacement Project
Posted on 06/03/2013

New water main installation is nearly completed in the Orland Hills Gardens subdivision. This week the contractor is proceeding with the installation and switch over of water services from the old water main to the new water main. The water service installation construction crew is working north of Hawthorne Drive on Huntington Court and east of Highland Avenue on Hopkins Court, Holiday Court and Hale Drive.

The contractor has begun removal of the old fire hydrants on 151st Street and south to 153rd Street. This is the precursor to restoring the curbs, sidewalks and driveways.

Also this week in the Orland Hills Gardens area, the contractor intends to begin paving the trenches within the street, weather permitting. The roads having the asphalt replaced in the streets will be south of 151st Street and Hibiscus Drive. Please do not park your vehicles on the roadways between 6:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The paving will continue next week.

The installation of water main continues near Ravinia Avenue and 144th Place. After the installation is completed, the contractor will be installing the new water service from the new main to approximately the property line.

During the construction of the water main, no parking will be permitted between 7 am and 5 pm to allow ample area for the construction equipment and installation of the water main.

During the time they are making the water connection to the new main you will not have water.

The installation of the new water main has left the area with piles of dirt in the parkways and gravel trenches within the pavement. Over the next few weeks the rain will settle these disturbed areas.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and will provide pertinent notices and signs to keep you abreast of our progress.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the construction, please call Mr. Bill Cunningham of the Village of Orland Park Public Works Department at 708/403-6350. Thank you.
