Village of Orland Park Sportsplex will soon be equipped with the latest in core and balance equipment with the newest addition to the fitness facility, the Queenax Bridge.  The new flexible, modular, expandable and functional training system will allow for support group and circuit training on one unit.

“The Village of Orland Park Recreation Department is keeping up to date with useful, suitable and cost effective equipment for our fitness facilities,” said Trustee Pat Gira, chair of the village’s Parks and Recreation Committee. “We are happy to be able to offer a new and innovative way for Sportsplex members to stay fit while making the best use of existing space at the facility.”

The new system will be installed and ready for use in August of 2017 and will be located on the second floor of the facility.

“The free standing system will provide functional and suspended body and weight training areas while preserving open floor space for other activities,” said Fitness Center Manager Deborah Geghen.

“The new equipment will offer Sportsplex members over 220 unique, functional training exercises and the ability to accommodate individual use as well as group classes,” said Geghen. “It's easy to switch between circuit training, small group training, and personal training.”

Functional Training is a multi-dimensional fitness method that provides a full body workout. Reminiscent of a playground climbing frame, the Queenax system combines special flooring and suspension apparatus with multiple stations that accommodate various training methods and uses.

“This workout is a mix of weights, resistance work and suspension training,” said Geghen. “You’re in control of how much you want to challenge yourself on each exercise – because you can simply adjust your body position to add or decrease resistance.”

The Village of Orland Park Sportsplex, located at 11351 W. 159th Street, is a 90,000 square foot state-of-the-art fitness facility offering an array of fitness and recreational opportunities such as a fully-equipped gym, yoga, rock climbing, Pilates, exercise classes, basketball and volleyball courts, open gym time and much more.
